Mixed In Mancos
Thanks for your interest in being part of Mixed in Mancos, an annual celebration of local music presented by the Mancos Creative District. During the first full weekend of March, three bands from the Four Corners region will play at the Mancos Opera House. This event will be recorded, and a live album will later be released on CD and vinyl. While it is OK to play a cover song or two, only original music will be featured on the album. A local artist will create album artwork.
During the weekend, a songwriting panel discussion will be held on Friday from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Mancos Commons. This is a free event to promote awareness and appreciation of songwriting. Please indicate below if you have interest in joining this panel. After the discussion, participants will be treated with a meal and beer at Mancos Brewing. Lodging for Friday and Saturday will be provided at the Mesa Verde Motel.
On Saturday, load-in begins at 1:00. Bands are encouraged to share a drum set and bass amp to help with transitions. Band members will receive a free meal at the Columbine Bar & Grill, and bands will receive $400 compensation…as well as drinks at the show. The doors open at 5:00, with the three bands playing 70 minute sets at 6:00, 7:30, and 9:00. The event concludes at 10:30. Lodging will be offered to all band members at the Mesa Verde Motel.

This is an invitational event. After completing this application, your band will be added to the master list of regional bands to be considered by the committee. You will also join the email list to get updates about Mixed in Mancos, including announcements about the selected bands for the upcoming year. If your band is selected, the committee will reach out directly to you.
The following are criteria that will be considered by the Mixed in Mancos committee:
-
Does the band feature quality original songs, with enough material to contribute to the album?
-
Does the band have at least 70 minutes worth of material for the event?
-
Does the band have a quality artifact of their original material, such as a video or recording?
Please note that only three bands can be selected in any given year. The Mixed in Mancos committee will work to balance genres, allowing diversity while promoting cohesiveness within the event and on the live album. Some bands that have previously applied may be selected in upcoming years. Thanks for your understanding, and we appreciate your interest in being part of Mixed in Mancos!
